Thankful Thursday
Thankful that my *&%$# pies are in the oven. Never put the balls of future crust in the refrigerator overnight, esp if they are made with butter.  Arrgh! Patchwork pies. Eventually I just had to laugh but I was mad as fire at first.
I am thankful that my cold is passing. Thankful for Bob and Jack and Little Jack and him mom, Karen.
Thankful for insights I have had lately: My friend Wallie sent me a book by the Suzuki who developed the violin teaching method. Reading it, about practicing things over and over, I realized I never had to do that in school, so no wonder I am bad at persisting in the things I want to do. No practice. So now I am practicing...
Thankful for Wallie and Dr. Suzuki.
Thankful for all the writers I have befriended and who have befriended me on Live Journal, and all their posts on how to do it and how to deal with discouragement and good books to read, new authors, etc.
Thankful that I live in the woods here in north Florida and up in Maine in the summers. Thankful for my house and the cabin up there. Thankful for the river here and the lake there.
Thankful for my dog, Maggie, and my cats, Missy (the ruler of the universe), Spike, Red, and Itty Bitty (who ain't so itty any more) and all their little ways... Like Missy lying on the dog bed (7 lbs) and daring the 80 lb. lab to disturb her...
Thankful for my new (used) Toyota Camry which I thought was Bob's new car till he said "I wouldn't buy a Camry for myself!!" so now I think of it as the Wussycar. To go with the Dorkmobile (97 Towncar). We always nickname our cars.
Thankful for this computer, the internet, my office, my 12 step groups and the 12 steps themselves which have changed my life and improved every relationship.
I am thankful for my friends, especially Lois and Jan, who really helped us out this year in various ways. And Alan, the friend who showed up with a generator the day after the hurricane up in Maine and also helped redo the cabin.
I am thankful to be alive at the ancient age of 68 which no longer seems so old....
I am thankful to be stronger this year than last.
Just took the pies out of the oven, so gotta go!
Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Thankful to be your friend, too! I also made pies yesterday, but I cheated and used supermarket crusts.

We had a fabulous cat named Spike. He's been gone several years now, but he was the best. I plan to write about him one day.

Spike is a mostly black calico with a stripe of orange down her nose. She also has the personality of Adora Belle Dearheart (Spike) in Terry Pratchett's books. She growls when you try to get up if she's on your lap. We like her anyhow. She was a stray and when we got her the free Operation Catnip fix and let her go, she moved in...
