Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
I am still sick with a cold and my son Jack just peeled the onions for creamed onions and washed the potatoes for hippie mashed potatoes (with skin). He is very sweet. We got him an older laptop (what he asked for) and a T shirt that says I didn't lose my mind, I sold it on ebay... He laughed. Bob got me 2 books on my wishlist at Amazon. We got each other a Mac mini. I got him some car gadgets so we can run ipods throught the radio, and hook up the computer and the GPS at the same time. X-treme Geek. He liked them all. A first!
I made two apple pies last night, used the food processor, but looked up how to do it online, so the crust came out much better. So after, I made some butter nut balls in the processor too. Not quite as effective and I wound up having to add water to get them to hold together.
Jack gives his friends big bunches of cookies for Christmas. He and Little Jack make great cut out cookies. Dye the dough, sprinkle with stuff... I make the nut balls. Jack makes perfect rum balls... I made small cakes too, lemon buttermilk and brown sugar pound cake. It is my favorite part of Christmas, making stuff to give away.
We are also having artichoke hearts and savoy cabbage. The turkey is cooking and I am happy with my boys around me, especially the old one with whom I have had 46 Christmases... Karen is here, and friends and relations are coming later.
Merry Christmas to all of you!
