Five on a Friday
1. Here's a quote from a book called A Morning Cup of Yoga that I just found in my journal:
"...when the negative voice inside said, 'I can't do this!' another, wiser voice could say instead, 'This looks difficult. What part of it can I do?' This was a completely different attitude, which freed me to try anything."
I find that enormously encouraging.
2. I stretched my old stretches today for the third day in a row, and some of my PT stretches for the first time, and when I walked, after a few minutes of pain, I could walk pain-free for the first time in a few weeks! Woohoo! I only did a quarter mile because I am afraid to overdo, but I am happy, happy, happy.
3. I seem to be making some headway with the mess in my house.
4. I have been reading William Joyce's Toothiana and E. Aster Bunnymund, which I just love even though I am reading them in reverse order (which is how I got them from the library). I had Santa Calls, his picture book. I love his illustrations. I also got Whales on Stilts by MT Anderson just because the title and cover delighted me.
5. I am reading Jennifer Loudon's The Life Organizer and found the following quote on page 16: "Right now, If you wish to, notice what your body most feels like doing to enliven its energy... How would your body like to open right now? By recognizing that you are a being made up of energy and by inviting that energy to wake up, You open the door to the temple of you." I like this because I have found that the way to find exercises that work for me in the long term means doing things my body likes to do. This also gives me permission to look for other ways to move that I might like.
