Things I am grateful for, beginning with the letter C
A meme from cmcmck
Cats: I've had lots of great cats: Monkey, my first (appleheaded) Siamese who would dance around on her hind legs when excited (hence the name) and could leap up and do a 180 in the air, Whiskey who once swiped some tuna fish out of Bob's mouth with her paw because he was laughing at how hard she was trying to get his sandwich, Luther the big tom Siamese who loved me when I felt that Bob didn't because of his PTSD which I didn't understand, and Tigger, our Burmese cat who would simply fall back down if she jumped up and Bob didn't have a shirt on. She once got really mad at me and backed up to me and peed in my eye! Missy, a grey tiger, is our 16 year old cat. She loves Bob best unless I am writing and then she wants to sit on the paper... Spike, our stray but now fixed outside cat (she beats up Missy who is 16), Red, our red striped stray but now fixed tom who acts like a meercat to get petted but can't be picked up, and IttyBitty, also a stray now fixed tom who is bigger than the rest (he grew). I'm grateful for the fun they bring into life, for the silly things they do, and for the cuddles.
Casco Public Library: This is the library I go to in Maine in the summer. They have a good collection, a great Friends of the Library Sale, wonderful staff and volunteers and a fast internet connection.
Children: I love them. Like to look through their eyes. Once at a friend's house her 5 year old came up and punched me. I turned and took his hands and said, "You'd like my attention wouldn't you?" No more punches, just conversation. A kid on my lap is my idea of heaven. Also my child, Jack, and his child, also Jack.
Cows: so I don't have to drink soy milk and can eat steak every once in a while.
Cucumbers: gazpacho and cucumber and tomato sandwiches.
the Constitution: so I have rights that can't be taken away by the majority...
Carnal knowledge: such fun...
Cherries
Cardamom
Curry
Cars: my long gone 1954 VW, the Dorkmobile (97 Lincoln Town Car), Bob's 1990 Miata (an MG that works!), and my current Toyota Camry. I love to drive.
Chaplains: I am irreligious but Father Phil, Jack Day who was a Chaplain in Vietnam, Father Masonetti, a Chaplain in Vietnam who used to steal jeeps for Bob and his buddies and go drinking with them, and Chaplain Kate Braestrup of the Maine Warden Service, whose book, Here If You Need Me, is great, have all made a great impact on my life.
Charles de Lint: one of my favorite fantasy authors.
Cynthia Lord: One of my favorite kids book writers who gives lovely presentations for kids and writes great books.
Cynthea Liu who gives good critiques
Companions on the road to recovery in my 12 step life including the guys who just started Combat Vets Anonymous using some of my ideas and my format.
Cotton, the only truly comfortable cloth!
Conversation...
Chestnuts, roasted, and the chestnut wood hand carved salad bowl I got in Spain in 1969, which I still use.
Connie Willis' Blackout and All Clear
Constance Georgia Hartwell Cincotti, my mother the doctor, who taught me not to be just a housewife...
Choppers: hate that particular word but love the machine: helicopters give Bob such joy and therefore me too.
I could go on and on...

What about CHOCOLATE?

And chips? As in chocolate chips?

And cookies? Preferably filled with chocolate chips...

...I'm going to go bake now.

I am weird. Don't really like chocolate. Chips are okay, but not great. Actually when I want chips at home I often peel a big carrot and slice it in slanted oval slices and use that in dip. So I should add carrots to that list.

Have you ever tried Sweets & Beets? Crisps made from slices of beets and sweet potatoes? Sooooo good!
